This piece is about 20" x20" and composed of many different types of wood, both domestic and exotic hardwoods. Each tile, of the larger ones, is about 2"x4" and were made by a special cutting and glueing procedure I came up with.

I made this pony for my grandaughter Ashlyn, who is 4 years old. I looked at quite a few rocking horses on the web and decided to design my own. I like the results and hope that she does too.

I started this project about a year ago and ran out of ideas. I had the lower half done, but the rest didn't work as planned. I sat it down for a year and got a new idea to finish it with. It holds a standard bottle of wine and the head sits tightly on the top.

Click to view: Tayler's Firetruck
I did some research on the web and made this firetruck. It has a working ladder, hose, doors, tires and steering wheel. Buttons, knobs, lights, using Oak, Walnut, Cherry, Padouk, Maple, etc. I built it for my grandson Tayler to play with. I made it strong and he is very careful when he plays with it. He still loves and plays with his firetruck.

This is another one of my projects that I started a few years ago. I didn't like the way it was going and didn't know how to fix it, it just didn't look right. (I should also say that I have no art training, little anatomical knowlege) I got it back out and suddenly it came to me. Anyway this is the finished project.
I didn't want it to be beautiful, in the sense that what occured was brutal. He was beaten, whipped and stabbed. He had to look awful and his face swollen and bruised. I am sending this to my sister and hope she likes it. It is about 10" high and made of Bass wood and Pine.

Click to view: Crochet hook
Karen does a lot of crafts, including crocheting. She has asked me several times to make a crochet hook for her out of wood. I finally gave it a try and it was a VERY exacting project that required a lot of thought and patience. The shaft is less than one eigth inch in diameter and this one is not perfect, but not bad for a first try.

Click to view: Birds with an optical illusion
The birds are made of Maple and Walnut. The sun/moon is Yellow Hart and is 10" in dia.
In the first picture, the birds have both wings up, one dark and one light. The head and tail are turned slightly downward.
In the second picture, I turned the same two birds slightly clockwise. Now they have one dark wing pointing up, one light with pointin up and the the head/tail are pointed slightly up. Can you see it?

I have many small pieces of exotic wood left from other projects. Karen does a lot of sewing/quilting and uses seam rippers to correct errors. All of her seam rippers have small handles that do not fit her hand well. When she uses them her hand tires. I designed some that work well for her grip and used my scrap pieces too.
